Thinking about rage

Rage is a scary monster to face: the depth of anger can be like running for the hills away from a veld fire (raging) out of control. And yet, anger is such an important game changer: it can set clear boundaries and motivate essential transformation. But change is never comfortable. Maybe it is not supposed to be. So, I was asking myself how it would be to see rage as a sign post rather than a red light turned inwards. This brought me back to one of the wise women I have been blessed to read. Clarissa Pinkola Estes: "Even raw and messy emotions are a form of light , crackling, bursting with energy."

Pent up energy causes discomfort, trapped with nowhere to go. The real challenge is to understand (deep down) what to do with that energy to prevent it from being destructive to self so that it can burn as a preventative fire break.

(Easier said than done...)

No easy answers. But maybe it was not supposed to be easy....
